Brand Story

The Mewzoom Story

Built with Care. Made for Cats. Designed to Belong.

Henry David Thoreau wrote that he went to the woods because he wished “to live deliberately.” For us, those three words express more than a philosophy of simplicity; they suggest a way of looking carefully at the life around us and choosing, with intention, what deserves a place within it. Mewzoom began with a similarly deliberate question:

If cats have become members of the family, why should the furniture created for them remain an afterthought within the home?

Research into cat-owner relationships has examined the bond between people and cats through the frameworks of attachment and social support. While every relationship is different, such research reflects something cat families have long understood intuitively: a cat may occupy a meaningful emotional place in human life, not merely the functional role of a household pet.

Our story began with cats of our own.

As cat parents, our founding team saw a clear divide in the market. Many products offered cats basic places to climb, scratch, or sleep, yet too often they were made from composite boards, low-quality adhesives, rough finishes, or materials whose safety was difficult for families to evaluate.

Others were bulky, visually disconnected from modern interiors, difficult to clean, and built more to be replaced than to be lived with for years. Cat parents were repeatedly asked to make an unnecessary choice: protect the natural needs of the cats they loved, or preserve the beauty, safety, and character of the homes they had carefully created.

We believed those two forms of care should never be in conflict.

That belief became the origin of our brand. We first established it under the name Catsvillas. From June 2019, we evolved the brand identity to Mewzoom—a deliberate upgrade that better expressed our vision of modern solid wood cat furniture designed to belong in the home.

From the beginning, we chose to focus on modern solid wood cat furniture rather than compete through low prices, generic private-label products, or short-lived trends. Our purpose was to bring together feline instinct and modern residential design—to create furniture that could serve the life of a cat while belonging naturally within the life of a home.

Designed Around the Nature of Cats

Cats read a home differently from the way people do.

We tend to experience a room horizontally, moving from one area to another. Cats map the same room vertically. They climb toward height to observe their surroundings, stretch against textured surfaces, retreat into enclosed spaces, and settle near windows where the world remains in motion.

They scratch not simply because a surface is available, but because scratching is part of how they stretch, mark, maintain their claws, and interact with their environment. They seek privacy not because they wish to be excluded from the family, but because security often begins with having the freedom to withdraw.

These behaviors are not decorative themes added after a product has been designed. They are the beginning of our design process.

The AAFP and ISFM Feline Environmental Needs Guidelines connect a cat’s comfort within its environment with physical health, emotional well-being, and behavior. The guidelines emphasize the value of secure spaces, elevated locations, separate resting and scratching resources, opportunities for play, and an environment that allows cats a sense of choice and control.

Mewzoom translates these principles into furniture for everyday life.

We design around climbing and elevation, observation, sheltered rest, scratching, play, and movement. We then bring those feline needs into conversation with the warmth, restraint, and visual clarity of modern interiors.

Our goal has always been to create pieces that feel secure and comfortable for cats, yet calm and considered within the home—furniture that does not look like a temporary pet accessory, but like a lasting part of the room.

2019 | The Beginning of Mewzoom

In 2019, relatively few brands were dedicated to premium solid wood cat furniture. Much of the market was still dominated by simple structures made from engineered wood, carpet, and sisal, with limited consideration for material longevity, visual harmony, or how the product would coexist with the surrounding interior.

We entered this overlooked space first as Catsvillas, and from June 2019 under the name Mewzoom, with a different proposition:

Cat furniture should be designed as part of the interior, not apart from it.

Under the Mewzoom name, we established “modern solid wood cat furniture” as our core direction and began exploring a category that brought together solid wood pet living and modern home design.

We wanted to move beyond the assumption that furniture for cats had to appear rough, inexpensive, or disconnected from the rest of the room. We believed that a functional object made for a cat could also contribute warmth, rhythm, and character to a home.

A cat tree did not have to be hidden when guests arrived. It could become part of the home’s visual language.

During this first stage, our team developed, refined, and evaluated 19 differentiated design concepts. Each explored a different balance of structure, feline behavior, material expression, and residential aesthetics.

Those early concepts established the design logic that continues to guide us:

Respect the instincts of cats.

Understand the expectations of their people.

Refuse the assumption that one must be sacrificed for the other.

2020 | Building a Research-Led Design System

Mewzoom did not begin as a casual move into the pet industry.

Before the brand was established, members of our founding team had already accumulated years of experience in solid wood furniture, structural design, pet behavior, European and American home-furnishing exports, manufacturing processes, and overseas product requirements.

That foundation allowed us to examine cat furniture from several perspectives at once: as a structure that must remain stable, as a material system that must withstand daily use, as a behavioral environment for cats, and as a lasting object within the home.

In 2020, we began building a multidisciplinary development system spanning solid wood structural engineering, feline behavior research, home styling, product development, and safety evaluation.

We established testing environments intended to reflect the realities of different households, including homes with kittens, large adult cats, and multiple cats. Our research considered jumping force, weight distribution, resting preferences, structural load, edge protection, contact-surface comfort, assembly, and long-term durability.

According to our internal development records, this work led to proprietary developments involving structural load-bearing solutions, modular solid wood connections, environmentally considered finishing formulas, and anti-tip structural systems. The same records state that multiple utility-model patents were obtained in connection with these developments.

We also committed a fixed 20% of annual revenue to material improvement, structural optimization, and original product development, choosing long-term research over low-cost imitation and superficial product variation.

By the end of this stage, the team had conducted approximately 1,500 internal performance tests and completed 15 major rounds of structural and aesthetic refinement. These efforts formed a standardized testing and development process that would guide future collections.

The numbers matter, but the idea behind them matters more: a product designed for a living animal should not rely on assumption alone. It should be observed, tested, questioned, and refined until care becomes visible in the structure itself.

2021 | Establishing Our Solid Wood Standard

By 2021, three principles had come to govern every product we developed:

Structural stability. Thoughtful material selection. Natural solid wood.

We formalized a full-chain product-development process and committed the brand to a solid wood direction, moving away from the composite boards, inferior adhesives, and harsh chemical finishes frequently associated with disposable pet furniture.

This was not merely a material decision.

It was a statement about longevity.

Solid wood brings more than strength. It introduces natural grain, tactile warmth, and a sense of permanence. It allows furniture created for a cat to participate in the larger atmosphere of a home rather than appear as something temporary placed inside it.

We wanted each Mewzoom piece to feel warm to the touch, dependable in daily use, visually appropriate within a thoughtfully furnished room, and worthy of being maintained rather than casually discarded.

During this period, our research expanded across 15 major product-development categories. We established internal standards covering solid wood selection, structural load-bearing performance, environmentally considered materials, and product safety.

Together, these standards became the framework every new design would be expected to pass before entering production.

2022 | From Original Design to an Integrated Supply Chain

The year 2022 marked Mewzoom’s transition from a developing product concept into a more complete international brand and operational system.

We expanded through major overseas platforms, including Amazon and Wayfair, where our internal records describe Mewzoom as maintaining stable positions among leading merchants in the category and receiving platform recognition associated with quality and customer reputation.

At the same time, we continued building a direct relationship with customers through our own independent website.

Upstream, we developed a raw-material management process centered on FSC-compliant solid wood sources and greater material traceability. Internal requirements were established for wood drying, preservation, sanding, incoming inspection, and surface preparation.

A three-stage incoming-material inspection process was created to distinguish the wood selected for Mewzoom products from low-cost composite boards, recycled mixed timber, and inadequately processed materials.

On the production side, we formed long-term strategic relationships with dozens of solid wood manufacturing partners, including exclusive capacity arrangements and dedicated precision-processing workshops.

We also developed independent quality-control capabilities and closer oversight throughout manufacturing, rather than relying entirely on conventional third-party factory inspections.

Our quality system expanded to cover the full journey from raw wood and machining to finishing, assembly, and final inspection, with 12 quality-control stages incorporated into the internal production framework.

We invested equally in the practical realities of international furniture delivery. Multi-regional overseas warehousing supported localized fulfillment, while our packaging-development work focused on shock protection, disassembly, self-installation, and reducing transit damage for large solid wood products.

On May 20, 2022, mewzoom.com officially launched with an initial collection of 15 core SKUs.

By this stage, Mewzoom had connected original design, material sourcing, standardized production, quality control, packaging, overseas warehousing, international fulfillment, and direct-to-consumer sales into a single working system.

What began as a question inside one cat-owning home was becoming an organization capable of answering that question at scale.

2023 | Expanding Across the United States

In 2023, we broadened our product matrix to serve a wider range of households and cats.

New product directions were developed for compact apartments, larger living spaces, multi-cat families, kittens, and large adult cats.

The collection was not built around the idea of one universal cat tree. It was built around the recognition that cats differ, homes differ, and the routines of the people living within them differ.

A piece designed for a Maine Coon in a multi-cat household may require a different structural language from one created for a single cat in a compact urban home. A family looking for a statement piece in the living room may have different expectations from someone seeking a smaller structure beside a bedroom window.

Mewzoom continued expanding across its independent website, Amazon, Wayfair, and other international e-commerce channels, building a broader sales network across the United States.

By the end of this stage, the active product portfolio had grown to 19 SKUs.

That growth was also reflected in the channel data recorded by the company:

  • More than 20,000 orders through the independent website, representing approximately $2 million in sales
  • More than 40,000 Amazon orders, representing approximately $5 million in sales
  • More than 10,000 Wayfair orders, representing over $1.5 million in sales

For us, these figures represented more than commercial expansion.

Each order placed our furniture in a real home, where it would be evaluated not only by a cat, but also by the expectations of the family living beside it.

Every living room, bedroom, window, and quiet corner became part of the continuing test of our original idea: could furniture respect feline nature and still feel as though it truly belonged?

2024 | Building a Community Around Real Homes

By 2024, we understood that the most meaningful expression of Mewzoom would not come from a studio alone.

It would come from real cats, real families, and real rooms.

We developed a more systematic overseas creator and user-generated-content program, collaborating with pet creators across the United States to document authentic experiences in everyday homes.

These stories revealed details that conventional product photography could not:

The cautious first approach to a new structure.

The first climb toward the highest platform.

The level that quietly became a favorite sleeping place.

The way two cats negotiated a shared space.

The way natural wood appeared beside a sofa, beneath a window, near a bed, or within a reading corner.

Internal records for this period describe collaborations with thousands of overseas pet creators, the accumulation of thousands of original UGC assets, and cumulative social media exposure exceeding tens of millions of views.

This stage represented more than a change in marketing.

It marked a change in how we understood the brand itself.

We were no longer focused solely on selling individual products. We were beginning to build a recognizable and emotionally resonant vision of life shared between people and cats—a vision shaped not by staged perfection, but by the daily rituals, personalities, and unexpected moments that make a home feel alive.

2025 | Creating a Long-Term Growth and Service System

In 2025, Mewzoom continued investing in localization and long-term brand development rather than depending on short-term advertising alone.

We worked to establish a durable operating system built on organic discovery, creator relationships, localized content, cross-border advertising, customer service, and repeatable international operations.

Our team expanded its work in overseas social media, content operations, and localized after-sales service, with greater attention to North American aesthetics, customer expectations, and the realities of living with cats in different kinds of homes.

The brand’s SEO and pet-content strategy, initiated in 2021, developed into a broader library of organic-search content and proprietary keyword assets. Internal records describe this as a long-term accumulation of natural-search visibility rather than a short campaign built entirely on paid traffic.

Our creator strategy followed the same principle.

More than 3000creators became part of a long-term collaboration pool, allowing relationships and content assets to develop over time rather than disappear after a single placement.

Customer support remained equally important.

For large solid wood furniture, the customer experience does not end when the parcel arrives. It includes installation guidance, damage resolution, replacement shipments, component support, and practical help when something does not go as planned.

Mewzoom therefore continued developing localized support processes for damaged-product replacement, component assistance, and what the company’s internal materials describe as a lifetime replacement-parts support system.

According to internal performance records, organic search traffic to the independent website increased by approximately 160% year over year during this stage, making long-term organic visibility an increasingly important driver of brand growth.

Growth, in this sense, was not simply the ability to reach more people. It was the ability to remain present after the purchase—to answer questions, solve problems, and support the life of a product long after the first photograph had been taken.

2026 | From Product Supplier to Modern Cat-Furniture Brand

By 2026, seven years of continuous development had helped Mewzoom evolve from an original product concept into a more complete premium pet-furniture brand.

Four core capabilities had gradually taken shape:

  • Original product design and independent development;
  • Standardized solid wood manufacturing and quality control;
  • A multi-channel international sales network;
  • A growing library of authentic customer and creator content.

Together, these capabilities marked Mewzoom’s transition from selling individual cat trees to building a recognizable category, operational system, and brand identity.

According to the company’s internal records, in the first half of 2026 alone, Mewzoom had served more than 50,000 pet families across its channels and achieved a combined user rating of 9.5 under its cross-channel evaluation method.

Behind every figure, however, remained the same purpose that had existed at the beginning:

To create a safer, more natural, and more beautiful place for cats—and a more considered way for people and cats to share the home.

Success did not change the original question. It made us more responsible for answering it well.

Looking Ahead | Building Mewzoom for the World

Our story does not end with the markets we serve today.

Mewzoom’s next chapter is global.

We aspire to grow from a modern solid wood cat-furniture brand into an internationally recognized name in human-cat living—one capable of serving families throughout North America, Europe, Australia, and other global markets.

Our ambition is to help establish Mewzoom as a global benchmark for premium modern solid wood cat furniture.

But global growth, to us, cannot mean placing the same product in more countries and calling the work complete.

It must begin with listening.

Homes differ across cultures. Living spaces vary in scale, architecture, climate, and rhythm. Expectations surrounding materials, safety, installation, delivery, service, and aesthetic expression change from one market to another.

Cats may share many instinctive needs, but the homes built around them are wonderfully diverse.

As Mewzoom grows, we intend to build a more localized global system involving regional warehousing, multilingual customer service, market-specific collections, internationally aligned material standards, and closer relationships with local cat parents, creators, designers, craftspeople, veterinary professionals, and animal-welfare communities.

We envision a future generation of cat furniture that is not only beautiful and dependable, but increasingly adaptable.

Future collections may include:

  • Replaceable cushions and washable soft components;
  • Renewable scratching surfaces;
  • Modular solid wood structures;
  • Seasonal accessories and interchangeable themes;
  • Personalized configurations for single-cat and multi-cat households;
  • Spatial solutions designed for homes of different sizes and architectural styles.

By allowing individual components to be maintained, renewed, or adapted, we hope to extend the useful life of each piece and reduce the need to replace an entire structure when only one part has worn.

We will continue investing in original design, structural research, material improvement, responsible manufacturing, international operations, and testing in real homes.

We will continue listening to the people who choose our furniture—and, through their behavior, to the cats who use it.

Our ambition is bold: to demonstrate that furniture made for animals can meet the same expectations of safety, craftsmanship, beauty, and longevity as furniture made for people.

We do not seek global growth merely for the sake of becoming larger.

We seek it because more families deserve a home in which caring for a cat does not require sacrificing thoughtful design.

We seek it because more cats deserve a space that recognizes their instincts, protects their comfort, and gives them a visible, lasting place within the family.

And we seek it because we believe the future of pet living should not be built around temporary products hidden in forgotten corners. It should be built around objects made with intention—objects that respect the animal, support the household, and grow into the identity of the home.

From the first 19 design concepts to the homes we hope to reach around the world, our direction remains unchanged:

Build with care. Design with purpose. Make room for cats in the modern home.

Built with Care. Made for Cats. Designed to Belong.
